Style

These are my personal opinions, and not those of Stil-Budo in general.

The style we train has its roots in ZNKR Jodo, but should not be identified as such for several reasons. The first and most imporatant beeing that we are not affiliated with the ZNKR in any way. The second reason is that our instructor is not qualified and has no teaching license.

These things do not nessesarily make our style "bad" though, since we have no contact with the ZNKR our style is not subject to constant change and modification from senior ZNKR officials, once something is learnt it can be depended upon to stay that way. However the lack of outside contact also makes our style drift from the original one, even if the style had remained static. In an attempt to slow down this drift we try to study books, however these books are often several years old, and sometimes the authors don't have in deapth knowledge on the topic.

But, correct style or not, Jodo (and Iaido) is a great way to relax and for a few hours a week get away from the stress and work with university studies. Once training has started I don't give the outside world a thought until I leave again.
