Frames: choice between "vertical" and "horizontal" design (maybe even
left/right and top/bottom designs). (Adjustable separator between the
frames!)

avoid background images, especially on the image pages (which should be
kept to an absolute minimum). Keep vertically compact, at least at the
top of the page.
