The city is virtually at a stand still. Yesterday the subway actually
stopped running, leaving thousands of people stranded on the street.

They are calling in the army to help remove the snow.

VK; Somehow, I like the fluffy slipper image better. :^)

CAn you make some tea or hot chocolate? You obviously need something
to warm you up. I hope the philm card was worth it. How many other
crazies were standing freezing in line?

VK; I'm wearing two pair of trousers, two pair of socks, two long sleeve
T's, a sweater and still I'm freezing. (I didn't stand for 3 hours in the
cold but I did slog through the snow to the store in -17C windchill -30)

FS!!! I can't believe it. Two real people in the chat room at the same
time as I am here!

VK; Did you have a tent over you in the -4 temps or were you right outside?

VK; It still seems extreme to wait outside. One would think that you
could just apply by e-mail for the card...

and as for the philm cards, that just seems barbaric of the philm society.
But I understand that it's worth it for you to wait in the cold. I wouldn't
but them I'm lazy.

VK; I cannot BELIEVE how much snow is out there! And I just heard horrible
news. The forecast for next week is rain.  :^6 

VK; ice for more than a month. And we're a little concerned about our
flat roof. maybe we'll have a cave in because we can't get to it to clear
it off.

 this is actually an impossibility because there is so much snow
on the deck that we can't get the door open.

The bottom of the tree is here. All of my shrubs are completely
submerged by snow.

We stood our Christmas tree on the snow in the front yard (recycling
trucks come and take them away to be shredded and composted) but so much
snow has fallen now that the tree looks half the height and I doubt
that the removers will be able to get it out of the embankment.

VK; It's an insane amount. More than I've ever seen here in Toronto.
(and it keeps falling) I think the same system has hit Joan's area.
She said something about schools closing. So much for global warming....

VK; ARe you going to go to all those movies at once? (I used to be able
to do those kind of movie blitzes but now can only manage about two
in one day.)

VK; And they are having a tremendous problem because of all the cars
parked. (The cars can't move out of the parking spots because there is
so much snow) So all the roadways have turned into one lane roads. Nobody
here has any concept of how to drive in this sort of mess and of course,
the ninnies who CAN get their cars out, insist on driving anyway. It's
a disaster!

FS; :^D  Don't rush yourself though.

FS; Maybe Le Grand Bleu might be okay. But I can attest to the fact
that Horse Whisperer is pretty missable and suspect that so is Godzilla 

FS; But I have no idea about the French movie. It might be major junk.
Is there a blurb for it?

VK; !!! Just now when I was shovelling the steps, I almost fell off the last step because
I thought I was already on the last one. A stair's worth of snow fell
in about an hour. And it's still snowing.  8^/ 

VK; Is it an old movie?

VK; If so, I've seen it too and it sucks BIG TIME! My sister saw it and 
walked around rolling her eyes and saying "H e  a   v   y   e    e    e   e  e" for three or
four days.

VK; AAAAuuuuugggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! That "Grand Bleu"! that is
one of the worst, no, it's THE WORST movie I've ever seen. That's the
one that my sister couldn't believe. Is it being shown because it's
bad?

VK; How I hated that movie. I should just mention it to T to torment him.
He hated it more than I did (hardly possible really because I hated it
more than I can say.)

VK; I just wanted them all to explode from holding their breaths too long.

VK; They must be punishing you for standing in line so that you get
a good price for the festival.

FS; Not only do they pay, they stand in line OUTSIDE for two or three hours!

FS; Actually, probably the types who do a lot of drugs just love BIG BLUE.
It's that kind of nothing happens for an interminable length of time
movie.

VK; Whatever. If a film festival here were showing BigBlue at night, I'd
avoid the ticket line like the plague. BRrrr. (Can you tell how much
I hated that movie?)

VK; I stand corrected. I hope the others are much better philms and
make it worth getting frostbite on your nose from standing for such
a long time. (It's a barbaric way to get tickets.)

VK; If you've paid for it, you have to see it. :^D

VK; In fact, I think you should memorize it so you can regale us with
its riveting dialogue. As I recall, I couldn't wait for the next priceless
word to emerge from each actor's mouth (and I use that term actor loosely)
