What Dave has done here is to write an html document (html is the stuff that homepages are made of) showing his sig in different colours. To be able to see the colours you have to copy it to a file with the "last name" html or htm (for example "dave.htm"; it is the part from to that you want to copy). When you open that file in your browser (Netscape, Mosaic, Microsoft Explorer, HotJava etc) it will look good and have the colours that are specified in the colour codes. To make your own coloured ascii art in html you should start with the codes:

(where the 000000 and CCCCFF are colour codes and can be changed into
anything that you want)

and end with:

...... An example: Let's add some colour to Joan Stark's sig: -- .{{}}}}}}. {{{{{}}}}}}}. joan stark {{{{ }}}}}}}}} }}}}} _ _ {{{{{ ASCII Art Gallery: }}}} 6 6 {{{{ {{{{{ ^ }}}}} {{{{{{\ -=- /}}}}}} God put me here to accomplish {{{{{{{;.___.;}}}}}}} certain things-- right now {{{{{{{) (}}}}}}}' I'm so far behind, I'll never die! `""'"': :'"'"'` jgs `@` Adding the beginning and ending codes would give us:

--
        .{{}}}}}}.
       {{{{{}}}}}}}.        joan stark   <spunk1111@juno.com>
      {{{{  }}}}}}}}}
     }}}}} _   _ {{{{{             ASCII Art Gallery:
     }}}}  6   6  {{{{    <http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/7373/>
    {{{{{    ^    }}}}}
   {{{{{{\ -=- /}}}}}} God put me here to accomplish
   {{{{{{{;.___.;}}}}}}}        certain things-- right now
    {{{{{{{)   (}}}}}}}'    I'm so far behind, I'll never die!
     `""'"':   :'"'"'`
   jgs      `@`

This will show Joan's sig as simply black on white. (Please note that I have changed '<' into '<' and '>' into '>' in a couple of places. This is sometimes necessary, the reason is that the computer would otherwise interpret the things written between < and > as html code.) Lets give her blue eyes and red lips, the part that you want to colour should be placed between and , that would look like this:

--
        .{{}}}}}}.
       {{{{{}}}}}}}.        joan stark   <spunk1111@juno.com>
      {{{{  }}}}}}}}}
     }}}}} _   _ {{{{{             ASCII Art Gallery:
     }}}}  6   6  {{{{    <http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/7373/>
    {{{{{    ^    }}}}}
   {{{{{{\ -=- /}}}}}} God put me here to accomplish
   {{{{{{{;.___.;}}}}}}}        certain things-- right now
    {{{{{{{)   (}}}}}}}'    I'm so far behind, I'll never die!
     `""'"':   :'"'"'`
   jgs      `@`

(yes, it gets messy sometimes but this should work....) And now lets make her hair brown:

--
        .{{}}}}}}.
       {{{{{}}}}}}}.        joan stark   <spunk1111@juno.com>
      {{{{  }}}}}}}}}
     }}}}} _   _ {{{{{             ASCII Art Gallery:
     }}}}  6   6  {{{{    <http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/7373/>
    {{{{{    ^    }}}}}
   {{{{{{\ -=- /}}}}}} God put me here to accomplish
   {{{{{{{;.___.;}}}}}}}        certain things-- right now
    {{{{{{{)   (}}}}}}}'    I'm so far behind, I'll never die!
     `""'"':   :'"'"'`
   jgs      `@`

(mmmm.... very messy.... :D ) And then you can go on like that and colour anything you like. ...... I have an explanation on how to figure out what codes to use for the colouring on my homepage: http://www.ludd.luth.se/users/vk/docs/about_colours.HTML And codes for when you need to exchange certain characters to make the computer understand that they are not part of the html code you can find here: http://www.ts.umu.se/~r2d2/hitch/hitch5.html have fun! (and I hope it works in spite of the wrapping that my mail program will inevitably do to this post... if it doesn't I will post URL's to a file with that html code...) -- :) Veronica Karlsson ( e93-vkn@sm.luth.se http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/ ) ( llizard's animation site: http://jota.sm.luth.se:80/~e93-vkn/docs/ )
